I grew up in South London, and have always had a keen and dedicated interest in art and design. My father was an inspiring artist, and his father before him. Always passionate about creating visual art from an early age, I was awarded a special prize for art at school and progressed to gain a degree in Fine Art in 1986.

Towards the end of my degree studies I expanded my interests to include various forms of film, photography, music and multimedia. My degree show was a multimedia event and this led to collaboration with pioneering video artist George Barber and exhibitions and installation work in London in galleries and clubs.

From the early 1990’s my musical projects led to extensive recording and music production work  (some at EMI and Island studios) as well as live front-of-house engineering on various tours and events around Europe.

In the mid 1990’s I moved to Salisbury, Wiltshire and at this time I produced many illustrations for various publications and publishers including Primary File, the Letts Revision Aids, The Informed Parent and others.

In the early 2000’s I produced photographs and installations for clubs and festivals including Rhythmicon Club and the Larmer Tree Festival (as well as building a reputation as a popular DJ). At this time I was also producing my own music (X-Amount, X-Amt) and teaching sound technology and multimedia to Further and Higher Education students at the London University (LCC) on Apple Mac systems.

Soon my educational abilities led to full time FE teaching in sound technology until mid 2010. I did however, keep my personal artistic activities going, producing and playing in two bands (Head To Head & Nicky’s House) that performed concerts in Europe and played at 3 Glastonbury Festivals.

My artwork is always advancing no matter how busy I am, and by this time had evolved (along with technology) into more digitally based projects. I produced many posters, flyers, gift cards, logos and album covers for a varied range of clientele.

In 2010 I relocated to Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, I am now continuing my illustration work as well as producing more 2-dimensional artworks, digital designs and solo musical projects. Although I am experienced with both Windows and Mac OS X, I am Mac-based, and I have worked with most multimedia applications, including Photoshop, Final Cut and Logic.
